Welcome to ARU GP Soc
Updated: Nov 5, 2020
Welcome to the ARU GP Soc blog. We are founded in 2020 by a group of medical students who are passionate about General Practice and we have recently become affiliated with RCGP via the Society Partnership Scheme.
General Practitioners are frontline healthcare workers in primary care, caring for patients from cradle to grave. Over 1.3 million GP consultations happen across the country every day, looking after patients with one-off or complex medical conditions.
Among medical students, the career of GP is deemed as a "boring 8-to-5 job" and not as recognized as specialties like emergency medicine or surgery. Our society plans to debunk the myths of "GP Land" and paint a realistic picture that the career of GP can be stimulating and diverse, especially with the emergence of portfolio GPs.
We are excited to bring you a full programme this academic year featuring talks from GPs with special interests as well as organizing a bank of learning resources online.
We look forward to seeing you at our events and please comment on any events you would like to see from us,
